Editorial Policy

Faorms is an independent editorial publication about hand embroidery, textile craft, fabric care, garment repair, and slow fashion. This policy explains how our guides are researched, tested, checked, corrected, and kept independent.

Who we are

Faorms is published by Rafia. The editorial team is Amina Raza, Editor, and Danish Ali, Craft Writer. Authors are editorial identities: this page does not claim biographies, portraits, credentials, or experience beyond what is stated here. Author profiles will be expanded only with verified information supplied by the owner.

What we publish

We publish practical guides to hand-embroidery techniques, stitches, tools, and pattern transfer; material-specific care for cotton, linen, silk, wool, and decorated garments; mending, storage, stain response, and long-term garment preservation; slow-fashion decisions, including repair, cost per wear, and thoughtful buying; and documented artisan processes and textile traditions, with clear sourcing and consent.

How we research

Guides draw on published textile-care practice, maker knowledge, and the care labels and manufacturer guidance for specific materials. Where a claim comes from external guidance, the article links to that source. We do not present uncited claims as sourced, and we do not present a general rule as if it applied to every fibre, dye, finish, or valuable textile.

Hands-on testing

Where we describe a hands-on test, we state the materials, tools, conditions, and result, and the limits of what the test shows. Where a method is general guidance rather than a tested result, we say so. We do not claim blanket testing of every method on every material. See How We Test.

Safety

Advice involving valuable, historic, or chemically treated textiles is qualified so readers know when to consult a textile conservator, cleaner, manufacturer, or other specialist. Our standing rule is test-first: test any treatment on a hidden area before applying it to a visible part of a garment, and never apply an untested treatment to a valuable piece.

Fact-checking and expert review

[TODO: Faorms has not yet appointed an independent expert reviewer. Safety-sensitive guidance is qualified, and readers are directed to qualified professionals. This page will be updated when a reviewer is appointed and their role and credentials can be stated truthfully.]

AI assistance

Some drafts are prepared with AI assistance and are reviewed, edited, and approved by a human editor before publication. AI is never presented as an author, reviewer, or source.

Corrections

We correct material errors and record substantive updates. See Corrections Policy.

Advertising and independence

Faorms may display advertising to help fund hosting, photography, research, testing, and editorial work. Advertisers do not select our topics, review our drafts, or control our conclusions. Advertising is visually separated from editorial content and labelled where appropriate. Sponsored or affiliate content, if introduced, will be disclosed clearly at the top of the relevant page.
