Faorms is an independent editorial publication about hand embroidery, textile craft, fabric care, garment repair and slow fashion. Our aim is simple: turn complex craft knowledge into clear guidance that readers can use safely and confidently at home.
Faorms is published by Rafia.
Why we publish
Textile knowledge is often scattered across product labels, specialist books, museum guidance, workshops and family practice. Faorms brings those sources together, tests practical methods where we can do so responsibly, and explains the limits of each recommendation. We want readers to understand not only what to do, but why a method works, when it may fail, and when a professional should take over.
What we cover
- Hand-embroidery techniques, stitches, tools, pattern transfer and finishing.
- Material-specific care for cotton, linen, silk, wool and decorated garments.
- Mending, storage, stain response and long-term garment preservation.
- Slow-fashion decisions, including repair, cost per wear and thoughtful buying.
- Documented artisan processes and textile traditions, with clear sourcing and consent.
How our guides are made
Every guide has a named author and publication date. Where we perform a hands-on test, we describe the materials, tools, conditions and result. Where a claim comes from an external authority, we cite that source. Advice involving valuable, historic or chemically treated textiles is reviewed or qualified so that readers know when to consult a textile conservator, cleaner, manufacturer or other specialist. We correct material errors and record substantive updates.
